How exciting!

Pretty Cool. Will Miss Phoenix have a story in there as well?

Phoenix said...

Only if it makes the cut, Matt ;o)

I recently wrote a story for a free-to-enter contest. It got an OK reception from my critters, but I didn't feel it was *quite* there, so I didn't even submit it.

I haven't started my story for this anthology yet, so I don't know that what I come up with will be any good. I hope so, but I hear the editor can be pretty tough on self-imploding birds.

And think of the ashes that need to be swept away afterwards.

I'm game. Have to think about it for a bit though.

Thanks for the notice and the idea!

I'm going to give it a go. I have some ideas.

My question is that if I submit a story and even if I don't make it, can I get some constructive feedback anyway?

Phoenix said...

Hi vkw: I'll definitely let anyone know why I pass on their work. I don't know how indepth the feedback will be (less than a line edit, certainly more than just a couple of perfunctory sentences), and I'll be clearer than just "Not right for me."

Everyone who submits is putting a lot of work into crafting a story for this anthology, even if it doesn't get selected. The very least I can do is invest time to explain why.

(PS, did you see my question to you in the last query post below?)

What fun! I'm already daydreaming out the window thinking about the theme.

What a great idea! I'll have to put together something for you to consider for this one. Great cover too.

I love extinction. Got hooked a long time ago in an anthro course at uni. I was a young girl and fell in love with Australopithecus, several of them. I'm in. This is great.
